Santo Domingo.- The governments of the Dominican Republic and the United States have renewed a key Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in combating transnational crime, improving border security, and enhancing humanitarian response efforts.

The agreement was signed by Dominican Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez and U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Patricia Aguilera. A central component of the renewed pact is the implementation of the Cooperative Situational Information Integration System (CSII), a digital platform designed to facilitate real-time sharing of radar and sensor data between the two nations and other regional allies.

This system will enhance coordination for maritime, land, and air surveillance, as well as improve response capabilities during natural disasters and search-and-rescue operations. Minister Álvarez highlighted the strategic importance of the agreement, noting the Dominican Republic’s vulnerable position as a transit point in the Caribbean for illicit activities.
