The Pope wants to visit Dominican Republic: Senate

Rom.- Pope Francisreceived at the Vatican on Wednesday the president of Dominican Republic´sSenate Cristina Lizardo, who attended the meeting with the congressionaldelegation that participates in the First Parliamentary Forum Italy-LatinAmerica and the Caribbean.

The Pope reportedlyexpressed to Lizardo his desire to visit the Dominican Republic.

The lawmaker gave Francisa cross, the symbol of Christianity, made of amber, one of Dominican Republic´stwo national gemstones.

In a statement theDominican Senate said senators Charles Mariotti, Euclides Sanchez, Antonio Cruzand Luis Rene Canaan formed part of the delegation which visited the pope andto the Dominican Embassy to the Holy See, where they were received by ambassadorVictor Grimaldi.
