Bank fraud case probe ´seriously´ links Pimentel Kareh

Santo Domingo.- NationalDistrict prosecutor Yeni Berenice Reynoso on Wednesday said the investigationinto the alleged Peravia bank fraud “seriously” links former State WorksSupervisory Engineers Office (OISOE) director Miguel Pimentel Kareh.

The former official islinked to said case, according to the prosecutor, "in various ways, whichI reiterate, I prefer not to provide detail at this time."

She said the investigationinto the Peravia case is advancing and will reveal the names one theextradition orders.

On June 25 NationalDistrict Permanent Attention judge Jose A. Vargas ruled six months pretrialdetention against the defendants and Pausides Donato Morales Rodriguez, who wassent to the prison at San Pedro de Macoris (east).

Meanwhile codefendantYesenia Serret was sent to Najayo prison, whereas Magdelen Serret was releasedon RD$200,000 cash bond; Yomalys A, Fernández and María L. Guzmán were set free on their own recognizance and Peraviabank CEO José Luis Santoro was declareda fugitive.
