Official says 788,000 Dominicans surmount poverty in 3 years

Santo Domingo.- Presidencyadministrative minister Jose Ramon Peralta on Wednesday said 788,000 peoplehave left poverty behind in the Dominican Republic in the last three years,thanks to inclusive public policies.

He said socialinclusion is a major issued for president Danilo Medina´s administration, notingthat in his speech at the UN General Assembly he addressed Latin America´s inequalityand the region´s need to achieve a new model of inclusive growth.

Speaking in the panel"Social Inclusion Policies in Dominican Republic" as part of the exhibit"Changing the Face of the People" during the UN International Meetingon Poverty, the official urged diplomats and international guests to visitDominican Republic to see firsthand to the “momentous changes” taking place inthe Caribbean nation of 10 million.
