France probes Sarkozy in Dominican ´air cocaine´ scandal

Santo Domingo.- Francehas launched a probe into former right-wing president Nicolas Sarkozy over theuse of the private jet seized in Dominican Republic with 700 kilos of cocaine,leading to 20 year prison sentences for pilots Pascal Fauret and Bruno Odos.

Odos and Fauret fledDominican Republic and are now in custody in Marseilles, France, which waswarned it wouldn’t extradite them to the Caribbean country.

MailOnline reports thata judge he has ordered a search of two of Sarkozy´s mobile phones., his name Alsoappears in court documents on attempted smuggling drugs worth £35 million,although any link to drug smuggling hasn’t been established.

The judge alsorequested Sarkozy´s "itemized bills" and "geolocation during Marchand April 2013," according to documents obtained by outlet Journal duDimanche

The pilots in the caseknown as ´Air Cocaine2´ made a cloak-and-dagger escape from the country lastweek, prompting accusations that French politicians took part in the flight.
