Black Friday warning: Retailers face fines for false ads

Santo Domingo.- The ConsumerProtection Institute (Pro Consumidor) on Wednesday warned retailers and servicecompanies that announce Black Friday specials against using the "whilesupplies last" statement in their ads to sell goods or service.

It said "whilesupplies last" should be replaced by the quantity of a product, good orservice offered.

Pro Consumidor directorAltagracia Paulino said businesses caught making those ads face a fine as muchas 500 minimum wages, and even up to five times the cost of the product orservice advertised.

The official alsowarned against “lure advertising,” which is passing off to a buyer a product orservice different from the one advertised.
