US educators´ kudos for Carol Morgan School

Philadelphia, Pa. — TheMiddle States Association Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools(MSA-CESS) recently recognized the music program at Carol Morgan School locatedin Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic as a Program of Distinction.

The Middle States Programsof Distinction initiative provides external validation of an accreditedschool’s accomplishments in specific areas of expertise and enables schools totake accreditation to the next level.

“Programs ofDistinction are models for other academic programs throughout the world,” saidHenry G. Cram, Ed.D., president of MSA-CESS. “I congratulate the Carol MorganSchool for recognizing that a quality music curriculum is an essential part ofthe core educational program for all students.”

The Programs of Distinctionreview process helps already accredited schools identify strengths and areasfor growth and provides inspiration and recommendations for attaining a highquality program.

MSA accredited schoolsare eligible to apply for Program of Distinction recognition for outstandingprograms in 21st Century Skills, Global Literacies, World Languages, VisualArts, Music, Early Childhood Education, Service Learning, School Counseling andSTEM Education.

The Music awardrecognizes schools and school systems that foster within students a deepappreciation for music as an expressive, creative art form and where musiceducation is recognized as an essential component of the social and cultural fiberof society and the school.

“At the Carol MorganSchool, we believe in creating learning experiences that provide diverseopportunities for students to engage in their interests as well as to exploretheir talents. Music provides theseopportunities while promoting the life-long skills of organization, creativity,and critical thinking,” said Head of School Rhonda Norris. “We are proud of ourmusic program because it provides these growth opportunities for our studentsand are pleased that it has been recognized by Middle States as a Program ofDistinction.”
