A 4.5 quake jolts northeast Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.– A 4.5 magnitude quake was registered 7:32 pm Friday with an epicenter 22 kilometers south southeast of Samana (northeast), with no reported damages thus far.

According to the US Geological Service, the quake was also within 11 kilometers from Sabana de La Mar, 27 kilometers from Hato Mayor and 92 kilometers from Santo Domingo.

The tremor was located at 19.009°N 69.288°W, with 24.4 kilometers in depth, and was felt by the population in those areas, even in the Dominican capital.
