Christmas Peace Plan: Police nab drugs, guns, fugitives

Santo Domingo.- NationalPolice spokesman Maximo Baez on Wednesday said the confiscation of guns,drugs and th arrest of fugitives charged with various crimes continue, aspart of the Christmas Peace Plan launched December 4.

In a press conferenceat police headquarters, the official said police apprehended the fugitive EddyAntonio Garcia in Nagua (northeast), and seized an assault rifle.

"Garcia was arrestedbecause on allegations that he used the weapon to fire in the air, so he washanded over to prosecutors," Baez said.

He added that amongother detainees figures José Ramón Rodríguez Jaquez, 38, while in his in an SUVin Santiago, carrying a pistol illegally.
