Former president highlights Dominican economic stability

Santo Domingo.– Former persident Leonel Fernandez, and president of the ruling Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), said on Wednesday the economic stability in the country is attributed to the work of the government and the party’s commitment.

"In the Dominican Republic we fortunately live in a situation of hope, always looking ahead and always confident that things will get better. That’s why the government and the Dominican Liberation Party work hard to always live up to the great expectations of the Dominican people," Fernandez said as quoted in El Nuevo Diario.

The former president spoke in those terms yesterday before starting to hand out baskets with food to poor people, in a populist tradition attributed to the late president Joaquin Balaguer.
