Santo Domingo ban on truck traffic starts noon Thursday

Santo Domingo.– The Metropolitan Transit Authority (Amet) announced the yearend ban on the traffic of heavy vehicles during Christmas and New Year, on all roads nationwide.

The prohibition on heavy vehicles will be in effect from 12 noon Thursday, December 24, to 10 pm Sunday, the 27th.

The ban is again imposed from noon Thursday, December 31, to 10 pm Monday, January 4, 2016.

Excepted from the ban aimed at preventing traffic accidents are trucks which transport perishable foods and fuel tankers.
