Former president still hesitant to join Medina’s reelection campaign

Santo Domingo.– January will be a decisive month for the ruling Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) to reaffirm its unity and clear the doubts if former president Leonel Fernandez joins President Danilo Medina’s reelection campaign, El Nuevo Diario reported today.

Medina’s presidential aspirations won space in the PLD causing a noticeable deterioration of Danilo-Leonel relations, although the issue has not been shared in public, typical of the PLD behavior.

Fernandez has been repeatedly asked about his indecision by journalists and he has answered by saying he is waiting to be called to participate.

According to the report, the PLD president is in a unique situation, for he has power and authority, and therefore, rather than receiving instructions, he is supposed to issue instructions.
