Some 130 US companies operate across the country

Santo Domingo.- Thereare around 130 companies of American capital scattered across the country in sectorsranging from real estate to mining, according to the Dominican Republic Exportand Investment Center (CEI-RD).

From 2010 to June 2015 thecountry’s trade with the US topped US$56.8 billion, for a US$17.2 billion tradedeficit for Dominican Republic, the agency said.

Vehicles

The CEI-RD report saystotal vehicle imports from the US jumped 19.8% to US$337.8 million from 2014 to2015, of which US$316.2 million pertain to vehicles manufactured in thatcountry, which also posted a 25.50% increase.

Products

During 2015 the US has exportedUS$2.7 billion worth of various types of products to the Dominican Republic:petroleum and petroleum products, motor vehicles with engines larger than1,500ccand smaller than 3,000cc, as well as commoditiesranging from animal feed to kidney beans.
