Walk-off win over Mexico advances Dominicans at Caribbean Series

San Juan, Puerto Rico.- In a game full of squandered opportunities, Elian Herrera donned the hero’s uniform to lead Dominican Republic walk-off win in the bottom of the ninth to keep their hopes alive in the Caribbean Series semifinals.

With two outs in the ninth inning and the bases loaded, Herrera’s line drive to center flew over the fielder’s head for the 3 to 2 win over Mexico.

It was Dominican Republic’s second win to clinch a spot in the semifinals Saturday, eliminating Puerto Rico’s chance to qualify for the Series crown.
