Santo Domingo.- After several ribbon-cutting ceremonies for government works in South region towns at a cost of more than over RD$4.4 billion (US$97.0 billion), State Works Supervisory Engineers Office (OISOE) director Miguel Pimentel Kareh stressed their social and economic impact on villages and benefits for inhabitants.
"The works have had a relevant impact on the development of this area, which far from the oblivion which described them a few years ago, has been present as never before in the mind, heart and deeds of the President," the official said
He said a “great effort” was behind the construction and reconstruction of roads, streets, sidewalks, sewers and retaining and walls, among other projects such as affordable housing. "All these works involved a great effort to rationalize public spending, but mostly the satisfaction from the achievements for a population that the expects the best from its government."
