El Salvador officials laud Dominican Republic’s biggest power plant

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic’s biggest power company on Monday announced a visit by an El Salvador Govt. delegation to its AES Andres, Boca Chica energy complex, headed by Electricity and Telecom Superintendent, Blanca Noemi Coto Estrada.

The visit sought to exchange knowledge on the natural gas market and generation with that fuel, and AES’ experience in the construction and successful management of such technology in Dominican Republic for over a decade.

During the tour Coto lauded AES Dominicana’s safety culture and willingness to share its experience with Central American countries.

The tour was hosted by the presidents of AES El Salvador, Abraham Bichara, and of AES Dominicana, Edwin De los Santos, who stressed that AES is honored to receive the distinguished delegation and share the lessons learned to diversify the energy matrix.

The El Salvador Superintendent thanked the AES Dominicana executives for the invitation and also invited them to her country to share experiences.

In a statement, AES Dominicana said the Salvadoran officials will tour other countries in the region that use natural gas-fired power plants.

Energy and Mines Ministry Technical Project manager Julian Despradel represented the Government.
