Top prosecutor confirms kingpin’s desire to meet

Santo Domingo.- Justice minister Francisco Domínguez on Monday confirmed that lawyers for ex drug trafficking convict Quirino Paulino visited his office to request an appointment, but were received by his assistant .

"It was a very short visit and raised essentially his (Paulino) willingness to comply with any notice on his part," Dominguez said, and admitted that US authorities didn’t notify Paulino’s return to the country and noted that he likely entered a protection agreement with the US, where he wasn’t deported after he left the prison and no longer lives there.

He said since Paulino didn’t come as a deportee, he apparently did so on his own volition. "That’s to say ulike other Dominicans who may well have benefited from a similar system."
