Dominicans mark Founding Father’s birth

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic today Monday marks the birth in 1817 of Francisco Sánchez del Rosario, who along with Juan Pablo Duarte and Matías Ramón Mella is one of the Founding Father.

He was a lawyer, politician, activist and political strategist regarded as the second-in-command in Dominican Republic’s war that ended Haiti’s 22-year occupation.

He took over the fight after Duarte’s forced exile, and proclaimed Independence.
