Foreign Minister touts the country’s policies in Washington

Washington.- Foreign minister Andrés Navarro traveled to the US capital on Tuesday where he met with several officials, including Ricardo Zuniga, National Security Council director for the Western Hemisphere at the White House, and Organization of American States (OAS) secretary general José Miguel Insulza, to discuss trade, security and immigration.

He also met with NY representative Charles Rangel and Albio Sires, member of the Western Hemisphere Subcommittee of the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee.

The official met with Insulza at OAS headquarters as part of the scheduled visits prior to his participation in the OAS Summit of Foreign Ministers, slated for today Wednesday.

The meetings also form part of the country’s push to tout progress in its Plan to Regularize Aliens and the Foreign Ministry’s recently created Human Rights Defense Dept., as part of the new foreign policy launched by president Danilo Medina.
