Three Dominicans to pitch opening day: Espndeportes.com

Kissimmee, Fla.- Veteran righty hurler Bartolo Colon will join fellow Dominicans Johnny Cueto and Francisco Liriano as the pitchers thus far confirmed as openers for their teams to kick off the 2015 Major League Baseball season,.

New York Mets manager Terry Collins on Monday announced Colon, 41, as opener against the Washington Nationals next Monday, April 6.

It’s Colon’s 7th inaugural day start, and the fourth Latin American pitcher confirmed as openers in the new season.

The American League Cy Young Award winner in 2005 is the oldest starter ever on the opening game since Jamie Moyer, 43, and Randy Johnson, 42 did so in 2006.
