Medina, General Electric execs meet, talk power plants

Santo Domingo.- President Danilo Medina on Thursday met in the National Palace with Dominican State-owned Electric Utility (CDEEE) CEO Ruben Jimenez Bichara, and executives of General Electric.

After the meeting, the official said he told Medina that construction of the two coal-fired plants at Punta Catalina, Bani (south) is on schedule.

Executives of General Electric informed Medina on the status of the power plant’s equipment and that they’ll soon arrive in the country, as scheduled.

"They also made themselves available regarding energy efficiency, expansion to meet future demand and good quality," Jimenez said.
