Medina pledges funding for rabbit farmers, banana growers

Laguna Salada, Dominican Republic.- President Danilo Medina on Sunday announced credits for producers in projects at Laguna Salada, Valverde (northwest), to expand rabbit and fish farms and build a banana packing facility.

The President came to the area as part of his surprise Sunday visits, meeting with the 400-member strong producers associations, noting that he was "very happy that they are so many."

One of the projects to raise rabbits, whose hide Medina noted is worth more money than the meat itself, is already underway in San Cristobal (south).

The fewer middlemen the better

"Count on us for the packing plant. What we want is to eliminate the middlemen, because the fewer intermediaries the more money your business will make," he said.
