Hoteliers announce Dominican Republic’s annual tourism DATE

Santo Domingo.- National Hotels Association (ASONAHORES) president Simon Suarez recenly announced the DATE 2015 tourism fair, slated from April 22 to 30 at Barceló’s Bavaro Beach Convention Center (east).

Association executive vice president Arturo Villanueva called DATE 2015 the entity’s most important event to market the country, because it attracts around 250 operators from Dominican Republic’s major tourism markets, to contract services with local suppliers.

He said 50 specialized buyers were invited this year based on the fair’s backdrop, which include meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibits.

He said the group, in addition to having access to all event activities and appointments with leading suppliers, can extend their stay to visit tourism destinations such as Puerto Plata, Punta Cana, Santo Domingo, La Romana and Samaná.

At the activity held in Santo Domingo’s Olivo restaurant, Villanuena said the event looks to increase the number of tourists that visit Dominican Republic.

The program includes the showcasing of tourist destinations by regional associations and cluster directors, targeting sector buyers and the specialized international media.
