Dominican politicians in Holy Week truce

Santo Domingo.– The main political party leaders have agreed to cease campaigning during Holy Week to reflect on lowering the intensity of debate and called on the population to not incur in excesses.

The Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD) and the Social Christian Reformist Party (PRSC) made separate announcements and asked their membership and followers to spend this week in reflection, because this is a period when the Catholic Church celebrates the passion and death of Jesus.

Ruling PLD party asked the population, through a communiqué, to not go overboard and to accept the recommendations and safety measures by the authorities with the aim of avoiding the loss of lives.
