Dominicans have first Easter with 911 system

Santo Domingo.– Presidency chief of staff Gustavo Montalvo announced today that the 911 Emergency System is ready to respond efficiently during the Easter break, which is the peak domestic vacation period.

This is the first year that the 911 Emergency System takes part in the annual response operation in Easter headed by the Emergency Operations Center (COE) in order to protect the population. The system will be operational for residents of Greater Santo Domingo.

After 10 months of being fully operational, the statistics show the system has reduced crime levels and saved hundreds of lives in the Greater Santo Domingo area. Montalvo also said it will shortly be expanded to other areas, including Haina, San Cristobal, Santiago and Puerto Plata.
