Santo Domingo.- The Soberano (sovereign) Awards, Dominican Republic’s top show business and media prizes, awarded 43 people and shows in as many categories in the ceremony that honored the late designer Oscar de la Renta.
The Gran Soberano went to playwright and actor Ivan Garcia, in the show which began just after 9pm.
The night’s other winners: Miriam Cruz, Merengue Band; Jose Peña Suazo, Merengue of the Year ; Don Miguelo, Urban Album and Show Blow to Revelation Band of the Year.
