Free concerts and fundraising for FEDUJAZZ in Cabarete

Cabarete, Dominican Republic.- The Dominican Republic Jazz Festival Education Foundation (“FEDUJAZZ”) will celebrate International Jazz Day April 30, 2015 with free concerts in Cabarete, and a fund-raising event at The Beach Club at Sea Horse Ranch to benefit the music program FEDUJAZZ established in the community of Cabarete.

The celebration of International Jazz Day on April 30th is endorsed by UNESCO, which is promoting simultaneous events around the world. The events in Cabarete will begin in the afternoon, with free concerts in the neighborhoods of the Callejón de la Loma at 3pm, and La Ciénaga at 4pm with the students of “Casa de Arte de Sosúa” String Program, and the youth ensemble “Escuela Libre Monte de la Jagua” from Moca which is comprised of fifty children and led by Director and Professor Profirio Méndez.

At 6:00 P.M. a fundraising event will be held at The Beach Club at Sea Horse Ranch, which will include a jazz concert by the talented Rafaelito Mirabal and “Systema Temperado”. There will be a fashion-show featuring the designs of the famous international designer Geannina Azar, modeled by mothers from our community accompanied by their children, under the coordination of the Puerto Plata model Jenny Cabrera. Hors-d’oeuvres from famous Chef Rafael Vásquez will be offered, and an auction will be held for art work by the outstanding visual artist Adolfo Faringthon.

Tickets for the event are US$100 with proceeds benefiting FEDUJAZZ, which currently offers free musical instruction to over fifty local children living in poverty. FEDUJAZZ is a non-profit foundation whose main objective is to bring about social change through music education of Dominican youth. FEDUJAZZ works in alliance with the Dominican Republic Jazz Festival, providing free annual workshops with visiting international musicians, many of whom are Latin Grammy and Grammy Award winners, and also provides music programs year-round for local children living in poverty.

The ”Jazz for Peace” event celebrating International Jazz Day is sponsored by Sea Horse Ranch, The Beach Club, UNESCO, and Casa de Arte de Sosúa.
