Plastic surgeon’s license temporarily suspended after 4th death

Santo Domingo.- Public Health minister Altagracia Guzman on Tuesday announced the temporary suspension of Dr. Edgar Contreras medical license until the investigation into the death of one of his plastic surgery patients concludes.

Contreras, notorious for his link to the deaths of at least three women patients, is also charged with the death of Sharlene Cedeño, 23, during a liposuction.

Guzman, interviewed on Channel 9 Colorvision, urged people who plan to undergo cosmetic surgery to access the Plastic Surgeons Association website to verify the specialty of doctors who perform those surgeries.

National District prosecutor Yeni Berenice Reynoso had interrogated Contreras during several hours, two days after Cedeño’s death last week.
