Dominican Civil Defense targets prevention as hurricane season looms

Santo Domingo.- Civil Defense director Rafael de Luna on Tuesday announced the nationwide launch of a prevention campaign prior to the start of hurricane season on June 1.

He said the National Emergency Commission’s preventive actions aim to reduce vulnerability and mitigate the eventual effects from a hurricane or an earthquake during the hurricane season which ends November 30.

"What to do before, during and after a hurricane? At the national level and simultaneously in all provinces we socialize the guidelines so people serve as the agency’s multiplier of knowledge,” de Luna said on NCDN Channel 37.
