Party of former presidency underdog headed for recognition

Santo Domingo.- The Central Electoral Board (JCE) on Tuesday decided to study the application to recognize the Al-Pais party during a session Wednesday, after weeks of demands and pressure by the fledgling political organization founded two years ago.

Recent poll numbers have catapulted Al-Pais president and virtual presidential candidate Guillermo Moreno from an electoral underdog to third place, behind former president Leonel Fernandez of the ruling PLD party, and PRM candidate Luis Abinader.

The JCE has announced inspection and supervision starting June of the political parties who’ve completed their files to be officially recognized.
