Personalities kick off Dominican Week in the US

Washington DC.- Dominican Week in the United States, (SemDomUSA) an initiative of the American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (AMCHAMDR), was inaugurated on Monday with the flag-raising at the Residence of the Dominican ambassador to the US, Jose Tomas Perez .

Around 50 members of the delegation who traveled from the Dominican Republic joined other guests in the garden of the residence of the Dominican diplomat to launch a week of strengthening ties between the Dominican Republic and the United States and boost the country’s image to its main trading partner.

Also attending the opening ceremony were US ambassador James W. Brewster and Dominican envoy to the OAS, Pedro Berges.

The flag was hoisted 8am in front of the Dominican Ambassador’s residence in a moving ceremony that included speeches by AMCHAMDR president Gustavo Tavares and Organizing Committee president Roberto Herrera.

In the keynote speech Ambassador Perez described the main aspects in the current bilateral agenda of relations with the US.
