Dominican Foreign minister gets Taiwan kudos

Taipei.- The government of Taiwan on Thursday bestowed the Order of the Brilliant Star on Dominican Foreign minister Andrés Navarro, to recognize his "significant contributions to the diplomatic ties and cooperation" between the two nations.

Navarro, on a five-day tour invited by president Ma Ying-Jeou, received the award in a ceremony at Taiwan’s Foreign Affairs Ministry, and lauded the Taiwanese people as “an outstanding example of self-improvement, its culture of discipline, perseverance and hard work.”

According to a statement from Taiwan’s Foreign Ministry, Navarro said he was impressed to learn that the Taiwanese nation’s three pillars are ethics, democracy and science. Foreign Minister Navarro.
