Washington DC.- The Chamber of Commerce of the United States (US Chamber) and the American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (AMCHAMDR) on Monday proposed the country as a regional logistics hub and also analyzed its growth potential as a manufacturing platform close to US territory.
The event held at the US Chamber in Washington DC formed part of the Dominican Week in the US (SemDomUSa), with dozens of members from various organization as well as members Dominican delegation, in an initiative that contributes each year to bring the two countries closer together and raise the Dominican image on the territory of its main trading partner.
US Chamber CEO Neil Herrington kicked off the activity 10:30am with AMCHAMDR Executive Vice President William Malamud served as moderator in the event.
DP World Caucedo Port executive Nelton Jose Gonzalez presented a video while Economy deputy minister Juan Reyes affirmed that the Dominican Republic works to facilitate trade.
"It’s impossible to develop without trade and that means we must facilitate this. Hence the inclusion in the National Development Strategy (END) to transform the country into a regional logistics hub," Reyes said, and stressed the importance of further public-private partnership to materialize the project.
