La Romana, Dominican Republic.- Dominican business group Quisqueya Binational Economic Council unveiled a project to invest along the Dominican-Haiti border to commissioners the Club of Madrid, former president Andrés Pastrana of Colombia and of Chile, Sebastian Pinera.
Speaking for the investors, business leader Juan Vicini said before leaving for Haiti on Sunday the former presidents were apprised of the political situation and the magnitude of the project launched by Dominican and Haitian entrepreneurs to create jobs in both countries
quoted by diariolibre.com, Vicini said the 4-tier project includes industrial development at Dajabón-Ouanaminthe; agriculture in Comendador-Belladere; energy projects at Jimani-Malpasse; and tourism at Pedernales-Anse-a-Pitres.
He said entrepreneurs and the international community have spent US$3 million in technical studies through the Joint Committee for Dominican and Haitian entrepreneurs, helped by international organizations and hope to raise a US$5.0 billion investment fund.
The meeting coordinated by deputy Victor Bisonó was held in Casa de Campo on Saturday, when the former presidents reacted upbeat to the projects and encouraged participation by business leaders from both countries.
