Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic ranks 7th among the 40 countries which most prioritize travel and tourism, besting even icons such as Costa Rica (22); Panama (25) and Mexico (32).
The figures are in the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) latest report ‘Travel and Tourism Competitiveness 2015’ released May 6, which also notes that dealing with infrastructure deficits can yield more profits.
Dominican Republic also figures among the top 10, which include Malta, Mauritius, Cyprus, Singapore, Ireland, Spain, Estonia and Barbados.
According to the WEF, the report analyzed 141 countries among those with the best competitiveness index, with a score ranging from 1-7.
Dominican Republic ranks 81st with a score of 3.5.
