Lawmakers confirm Bavaro Beach deterioration

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.- The lower Chamber’s Environment Committee on Thursday said the deterioration and other problems at Bavaro Beach (east) must be dealt with.

Commission chair and PLD party deputy Francisco Matos said they’ll meet with various social groups and government officials in the coming days to discuss at length the problems facing the Bavaro-Punta Cana region, the country’s leading tourism destination.

He said his commission recommended measures to the Chamber of Deputies and government agencies to halt what he called the decline of the Bavaro-Punta Cana area, La Altagracia province.
