Apple Leisure Group expands presence in Dominican Republic

Philadelphia, PA.- Apple Leisure Group® subsidiary, AMResorts®, will increase its presence in the Dominican Republic with Now® Onyx Punta Cana, the company’s third new resort management deal in the country in 2015. This will be the second resort from the family-friendly Now Resorts & Spas brand in the Punta Cana region, and marks a 30 percent growth in Apple Leisure Group’s resort product portfolio since the beginning of the year. The company currently has 37 open resorts with 10 additional hotels opening within the next three years.

“Apple Leisure Group has made a concerted effort to expand in the Dominican Republic in 2015,” said Alex Zozaya, CEO of Apple Leisure Group. “The island continues to be a highly popular destination, and our established reputation and successful performance track record in the region will continue to fuel our aggressive growth across the Caribbean and beyond.”

Now Onyx Punta Cana will break ground on June 1, 2015 and is scheduled to open in November 2016. Consisting of 500 luxuriously appointed rooms and suites, the resort will be located in the Uvero Alto region of Punta Cana on the Dominican Republic’s northeastern coast. Offering spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea and access to a pristine white sand beach, Now Onyx Punta Cana will be adjacent to sister property Breathless Punta Cana Resort & Spa.

“Our relationship with hotel owners in the Dominican Republic has consistently grown over the years,” said Javier Coll, Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer of Apple Leisure Group. “The strong return on investment and extensive distribution channels we are able to provide to hotel owners are two of the major differentiators that make AMResorts an ideal partner in the region.”

Catering to multigenerational families, especially with those in the pre-teen and teenager age range, the Now brand is a collection of resorts designed for guests who are looking for an elegant vacation experience. Guests at Now Onyx Punta Cana will enjoy AMResorts’ signature Unlimited-Luxury® vacation concept, which includes premium accommodations; multiple gourmet à la carte and specialty dining restaurants; 24-hour room and concierge service; pool and beach wait service; world class spa facilities; and unlimited international and domestic beverages and top-shelf spirits.

“The Caribbean offers many of the best beaches in the world, and our carefully selected resort locations place guests front and center of these beautiful coastlines. Now Onyx will be the ideal choice for multigenerational families seeking the perfect vacation that offers something for every age group in stunning tropical settings,” said Gonzalo del Peon, President of AMResorts.
