Sosua diving schools, volunteers to head massive beach cleanup

Sosua, Dominican Republic.- A group of Sosua diving schools and volunteers will host an environmental awareness day next Monday June 1, to clean up Sosua beach’s seafloor and remove the surface trash and flotsam.

The activity counts o the support of the Sustainable Development Association of Sosua, northern Puerto Plata province.

The seminar with the motto ‘We will clean our ocean! is organized by Canadian diver Bill Passmore who settled in the town has been the environmental cleanup program’s driving force and inspiration.

Diving schools Aqua Adventures by Scuba Dive Sosua, Cabarete Live, Dive Center Merlin Sosua Northern Coast Diving, Aqua Sports, Dive Technic Service form the task group, and also co-sponsored by Check Point, Bar & Snack, The Lazy Dog Concept, North Coast Designs, among others.

The organizers said the cleanup will take place the first Monday of every month.
