Most famous Dominican hotel reopens after US$40M redo

Santo Domingo.- Hotel Jaragua, Dominican Republic’s most famous hotel reopened Thursday after the entire property facing the Caribbean underwent remodeling since April 2014.

Jose Castillo, director of sales and marketing of the Santo Domingo Renaissance Jaragua Hotel, said the rooms, pool area, spa, gym, shops, restaurants, bar sand lobby area are brand new, with intelligent lighting.

Castillo said the hotel, part of the Marriot chain, has a wide selection of menus and bars, where mini-concerts with local artists will be featured Wednesdays and poolside barbecues will be offered on Saturdays. "It has been designed and conceived as Renaissance, as the brand states, with all elements of décor, customer service, of accommodation."

The lucky first guest was reportedly the winner of a Renaissance contest held worldwide.
