Dominicans in NY blast once powerful senator, political boss

New York.- Dominicans living in Upper Manhattan and the Bronx recently railed against once powerful senator and east region political “chieftain” Amable Aristy, and claimed to be followers of former president Joaquin Balaguer, the lawmaker’s late mentor.

They called the recent rallies headed by the president of the minority party (PLR) in New York City “a burial of poor people,” where only "four cats" attend for their convenience.

In a statement quoted by elnuevodia.com.do, the group said the affirmation by the lawmaker from Higuey (east) that his party has become Dominican Republic’s third biggest political force is something "even he himself doesn’t believe."
