Senators to challenge Customs chief’s ‘perfidious’ accusations

Santo Domingo.- Senators Reinaldo Pared and Charlie Mariotti on Thursday asked the leadership of Dominican Republic’s ruling party (PLD) to suspend them of organizational duties until the ‘perfidious’ accusations lodged by Customs agency director Fernando Fernandez are clarified.

In letters to PLD president Leonel Fernandez and the other senior party leaders, Mariotti and Pared reject the Customs director’s allegation that te lawmakers had sold the bill for the Customs Law to merchandise importers.

They warned that if the PLD doesn’t suspend them, they would take a sabbatical "to prove unequivocally that we’ve never committed the actions they’ve perfidiously attribute to us."
