Santo Domingo.– The allegations of Haiti’s Prime Minister Evans Paul, who reported that 21 citizens of his country were repatriated after being "arrested at their homes," are "absolutely false," Presidency chief of staff Gustavo Montalvo pointed out yesterday.
"The facts described did not happen and no one has been deported from the Dominican Republic. Again, our country has not carried out any deportation. Therefore, there is no basis to sustain that statement," Montalvo said through a statement.
He said to ignore the reasons why some Haitian government officials are making false statements and sustain a negative campaign against the Dominican Republic. "A campaign that also goes against the interests of their own people," he highlited.
"What I can say is that the Dominican Government has an unquestionable commitment to respect human rights and that we will remain forever faithful to this commitment, with all the people living in our territory, regardless of their nationality," said the Presidency chief of staff.
