Interpol nabs, extradites 57 ‘dangerous’ foreigners: Listin

Sano Domingo.- Interpol agents in Santo Domingo have arrested and extradited to their country to 57 foreigners considered dangerous who hid in the Dominican Republic to avoid prosecution by authorities in their countries.

Quoted by newspaper Listin, the foreign fugitives had sought to continue their criminal activities in Dominican territory but were arrested in various parts of the country and handed over to authorities of their country.

The fugitives, who’ve been arrested mostly in the capital, Santiago and the area of ??Puerto Plata, hail from Cuba, Mexico, Russia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic among other countries.

Interpol’s office in the Dominican Republic, headed by Police Col. Luis F. Ferrera, forms part of the Central Criminal Investigations Directorate (DICRIM) with agents assigned strategically across the country.

Interpol is also on the lookout for around 120 Dominicans who’ve fled the country after committing several crimes including fraud, drug trafficking and bank robberies.
