‘Dominicans rule this country,’ government tells OAS

Santo Domingo.- The government firmly warned Tuesday, just hours before the OAS releases Wednesday its report on the conflict pitting Dominican Republic and Haiti over the immigration issue, that Dominicans govern Dominican Republic for which no one can dictate policy to the country.

Presidency spokesman Roberto Rodriguez Marchena said the country is at peace and will await the report to submit to authorities for subsequent analysis.

"Dominicans rule this country, and based on the mandate given by the people is that president Danilo Medina has decided to bring order to migration in the Dominican Republic, without any foreigner coming to draw lines," the official said, adding that the government has no information about the report, but "the Dominican truth will prevail because it has nothing to hide."
