Pedro notes Dominican root, American dream

Santo Domingo.- Pedro Martinez recognized his nativeDominican Republic as well as the United States during Sunday’s Hall of Fameinduction ceremony.

“I’m a US citizen, I respect America. I wanted torecognize America. I wanted to give America the same props I gave the DominicanRepublic because without America, I wouldn’t be standing in Cooperstown, NewYork, being inducted into the Hall of Fame,” said he three-time Cy Young Awardwinner.

Pitchers John Smoltz and Randy Johnson and catcher andsecond baseman Craig Biggio joined Martinez in entering Cooperstown.
