Government ´guarantees´ water supply, intensifies rationing

Santo Domingo.- Thegovernment on Wednesday said its agencies, guarantee potable water supply despiteadmitting that the drought will worsen its availability over time.

Meanwhile water rationingfor irrigation and to generate power continues nationwide, as farms and electricitysupply start to feel the pinch.

The government´s wateragencies which monitor the drought´s effects met again Wednesday and announcedthat the country’s dams are still at critical levels.

In the meeting damsand canals agency director Olgo Fernandez said the authorities are putting moreemphasis on the rational use of water.
