President Medina attends opening of international electoral assembly

Santo Domingo.- In the presence of theDominican head of state, Danilo Medina, the second assembly of the Associationof World Electoral Bodies (AWEB) opened this morning, bringing together fiveformer presidents and the general secretary of the Organization of AmericanStates (OAS).

Medina shared the main podium with thepresident of the Central Electoral Board (JCE), Roberto Rosario, who is hostingthe events, AWEB executives and government officials

Speaking at the event, Dominican ForeignMinister Andrés Navarro stated that the present day Dominican Republic couldshow the world the progress it has made in the rule of law. He declared that society had progressedin a gradual and sustained manner and that “it had been decisive at the time oftackling problems”.
