SantoDomingo.- The recent rains have led to a very slight improvement in drinkingwater supplies in the Greater Santo Domingo area, with an increase of just fivemillion gallons in the deficit that yesterday stood at 80 million.
Accordingto a report from the Santo Domingo Water and Sewerage Corporation (CAASD) the volumeof the River Duey had increased from 3.97 million to 8.62 million gallons.
Atpresent no updates have been received on the status of the country’s dams fromthe National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INDRHI). CAASD operationsdirector Luis Salcedo stated that there has still not been enough rainfall torestore the city’s water supplies, and that the shortage remains practicallythe same.
