Buyers beware: Used inverter batteries being sold as new

Santo Domingo.- Theconsumer protection agency that (ProConsumidor) warned Monday that some businessesin Greater Santo Domingo are selling used batteries for inverters as if new,which violates consumer rights laws.

It said agency inspectorscaught the businesses selling the old batteries as new to defraud customers. "Wehave received several complaints from users about the sale of batteries of allbrands that are causing problems in their use."

ProConsumidor said inspectorsalso found a market “full of pure counterfeit batteries” labeled with the knownbrands such as Trojan and Trace, among others, also sold as new.
