Ruling PLD to discuss proclamation of President Medina

Santo Domingo.– Ruling Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) maintains the call for Sunday’s assembly of 2,900 delegates who will proclaim President Danilo Medina as a presidential candidate.

According to Diario Libre, the coordinator of the national electoral commission, Lidio Cadet, said the assembly where Medina will be proclaimed could be held in an atmosphere of tension, as former president Leonel Fernandez followers want Margarita Cedeno to be proclaimed again as the vice presidential candidate.

Cadet said there are expectations for the possible attendance of PLD president Leonel Fernandez, and if he fails to attend the meeting, it would be interpreted as a message of displeasure from the sector he leads.
